Some people may benefit from a structured Brain Injury Rehabilitation programme.  Such programmes are mainly accessed by people who have had a traumatic brain injury (head injury) but are just as valid following encephalitis. However and it can be difficult for some people (even professionals) to grasp that an illness may also result in an acquired brain injury and some persistence by the family may be needed.   A brain injury rehabilitation team delivers a programme of therapies and support tailored to the person’s individual needs.  The team may be part of a hospital or they may be based at an independent Brain Injury Centre.
